SOCIAL DIARY
What is famous in Germany?
If you are asking about the variety of beer, then in Germany, unlike neighboring Belgium, for example, there are not many varieties. I heard the law is pretty strict about what ingredient goes into beer. There are several varieties, e.g.
Dunkles (dark)
Weißbier (wheat beer)
Weißbier leicht (wheat beer lite)
Weißbier dunkel (dark wheat beer)
Pilsner/Pils (bitter variety originally from Pilsen in the Czech Republic)
Radler (hells + lemonade)
Russ'n (weißbier + lemonade)
Alkoholfrei (non-alcoholic beer in certain varieties listed above)
There are a few more varieties than those listed above, but those listed are mostly the familiar types in each brand. However, not all brands have all types. Which one is famous or rather preferred usually depends on the geographical region one comes from and one's personal preferences. There is no famous type.
