Which country is the best to live in, Germany or Canada?
I have lived and worked in both countries for many years.

I can honestly say that Germany is much better and your family will have better long term prospects.

Canada's economy is extremely dependent on resources and not manufacturing, i.e. value added like Germany and China. It is 100% dependent on the US to help run its economy.

Very few Europeans immigrate here anymore. The last big influx was after World War II, when Canada offered a safe haven. Today, European countries are much more cosmopolitan and offer many more opportunities. Canadians are very proud of their volunteerism, especially food banks. In Europe and especially in Germany it is not needed because the state takes care of its poor. In Canada you see unemployed accountants/engineers working in liquor stores to keep them from going bankrupt.

The average holiday in Canada is 2 weeks / in Germany 8 weeks. Most Canadians go to Cabins on the Lakes or travel to Mexico/USA. Canada has extremely expensive air travel. In fact, it is often cheaper to fly to Europe than to fly domestically.

Canada has 6 months of harsh weather. I saw snow in every month of the year. In the summer months, mosquitoes prevent you from enjoying the outdoors. Canada has excellent facilities for winter sports.

Canada is a boring, safe, isolated country. They are very proud whenever a survey puts them at the top. I see from another poster that Canada came in second behind Switzerland. I have also visited this country and I can confirm that it is also very boring. Both have very beautiful mountains and lakes, but little in the way of culture. Unlike Germany, many Canadians have never left their country and are unfamiliar with other cultures. This lack of perspective explains why it ranks so high. Canada is definitely better than the US, but not any country in Europe.

Germany has all the natural beauty of Canada, but it also has culture. Finally, Canada has a huge problem with First Nations people. Millions of these people live in reservations (ghettos) isolated from the wider population. This is a Canadian dirty secret that is little known outside of Canada.

Like the USA, Canada is divided into provinces. Unfortunately, these provinces are extremely powerful and often uncooperative. Trying to do things federally is hard. Quebec is essentially a different country and prevents other provinces from building pipelines. The same goes for BC.

Canada has a small population and this means that most modern cities are many hundreds of kilometers apart. People generally do not travel between cities. It is easy to visit other cities/towns/countries in Germany. Even if you go to another city in Canada, there will be exactly the same shops and restaurants. There are a few Victoria/Montreal/Quebec city exceptions. The rest are all carbon copies.

If you like winter, don't travel and enjoy watching American TV wherever you can in Canada.

Most immigrants to Germany make it their home. Sixty percent of immigrants to Canada return to their home countries within 10 years, and half of them return within the first 2 years.

I don't mean to be negative, just my honest opinion
