'Another common masterstroke’: Prashant Kishor on government funding for children

Criticizing the Center for Children's Aid by providing free and affordable inclusive education at the age of 18, Kishor said they should receive support now and not when they are older.

Political strategist Prashant Kishor on Sunday slammed the Center's proposal for support for children who have lost their parents to coronavirus (Covid-19) and blamed the government for "disaster management" of the epidemic.

Criticizing the Center for Children's Aid by providing free and affordable inclusive education at the age of 18, Kishor said they should receive support now and not when they are older. He added that the act of providing free education to children was already a constitutional right.

"One of the most common #MasterStroke by #ModiSarkar this time redefines EMPATHY and CARE for children who have been traumatized by #Covid and their tragic abuse," Kishor said, in response to a tweet shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Instead of getting much-needed support NOW, children should feel GUARANTEED with a pledge of grants when they turn 18 years old. Thank you #PAMCare for the PROMISE of free education; RIGHT guaranteed by the Constitution / RTE, ”he also tweeted.

Continuing his stabbing attack, Kishor also pointed to a shortage of hospital beds and oxygen last month when the second Covid-19 wave erupted in the country. "I thank @ PMOIndia for ASSURANCE being registered at Ayushman Bharat which is thought to cover the health needs of 50Cr Indians but has only failed to provide bed / oxygen supply if needed," he said.

Voting campaigner responded to a tweet sent by Prime Minister Modi saying many children who lost their parents to Covid-19 would be cared for by the government. "PM-CARES for Children will ensure education and other assistance to children," the Prime Minister tweeted, sharing a government statement.
